The much anticipated new version of Hyundai Santro is being readied for launch and it is likely to happen in August. There is much to know about it after its test mule had been spotted doing the rounds a few months ago. When the 2018 Hyundai Santro is launched it would lock horns with cars like Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Renault Kwid, Tata Tiago and others?

One of the best selling models of Hyundai had been Santro and it is set for a comeback. It is probably going to be launched in the second half of the year. As per recent news the launch of the new gen version is probably being pre planned by the carmaker. Initial plans had been to launch the small car in the festive season, but it seems that it would come in August 2018.

The car is internally codenamed AH2. It is expected to be part of the entry level hatchback segment and would be priced below Rs 3 lakhs. Rumor has it that it might replace the i10 whose sales have been dwindling. It is also possible that the car would be positioned between Grand i10 and Eon. The Grand i10 comes with a taller body and wider wheelbase than the i10. As has been seen in the test mule of the car, the new Santro would have a sporty look with a new cascading grille, new headlamps, fog lamps, a new bumper design, rear tail lights that would be of a new design as well as new alloy wheels.

The cabin would have upgraded as well. One can expect new tech gizmos such as a digital instrument cluster with a new dashboard design. The seats would flaunt dual tone upholstery of fabric and the same colored door panels. The steering wheel would have a new design as well. With respect to the powertrains of the car, there would be a 1 liter petrol and 0.8 liter engine of similar make. Both engines would come with a standard five speed manual gearbox as well as an AMT version. The competitive price range of the car would make it most appealing with the prices varying from Rs 3 to 5 lakhs. Santro had been discontinued for a while, but it is now set to make a comeback that will surely bring in more competition in the entry level segment.
