Toyota has revealed that it would be opening bookings for Yaris from the month of April 2018. It would rival cars like Ciaz, City and Verna in the premier sedan segment. This would be the first offering of Toyota in the C segment. With bookings opening in April, the car launch would take place in the month of May 2018.

The C segment has several premier sedans like Volkswagen Vento, Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. These cars have dominated the choices for customers and it is a segment that Toyota has not had a presence till now. The showcasing of the Yaris sedan at the Auto Expo in February 2018 was an indication that Toyota is looking to launch a car that would provide them a presence in this segment. At the time of the showcasing it was unsure when the South East Asian car model would be launched in India. However, with the recent announcement it is evident that the company is pushing up its plans for the launch.

Now it seems as if customers would be able to book the brand new sedan in the coming month itself. This car would fill the gap that exists between the Etios that is an entry level sedan and the Corolla Altis that is a luxury car. Yaris promises a mix of the premier features with competitive pricing. Hence, one can expect features like a roof mounted AC vents in the rear, front parking sensor, front seats being power adjustable, seven airbags as a safety feature and so forth.

The car would have a 1.5 liter petrol powertrain, which would be paired with a six speed manual as well as seven speed CVT automatic transmission system. It is a car whose variants would be priced between Rs 10 to Rs 12 lakhs. Yaris would be a great buy for those who already have an existing Toyota car. This is especially true for those who own an Etios for whom an upgrade would be ideal. For those who own a Fortuner or an Innova Crysta, it would become an advantage if they choose to own a second Toyota by opting for the Yaris. This sedan already exists in Thailand and other South East Asian countries. The car would come with the reliable and premier service support features that Toyota ensures to all its customers.
